Marmot Mica jacket

GearFlogger reviews the Marmot Mica jacket Marmot is a top-tier manufacturer and their experience shows in the Mica jacket, a 6.7oz – yes, you read that right, six point seven ounce – superduperlight shell.

The Mica packs into its own pocket but still packs in a full feature set. There are two zippered low outside handwarmer pockets, rip-and-stick cuffs, drawcord hem and a two-way adjustable brimmed hood: drawcord around the opening and a rip-and-stick tab on the back. The sleeves have reflective accents, and there's a full length zipper flap.

The 2.2oz nylon Membrain Strata material breathes well and doesn't feel like a bodybag when you work up a sweat. It's even got some stretch to it, which is good because the fit is close enough that if you intend to layer anything more than, say, Power Stretch you'll need to step up a size. The qualities of the material are tied together with taped seams, and the Mica is indeed waterproof in light to moderate rain conditions. The Mica easily became our go-to jacket for just-in-case day hikes and travel backpacking. Really a stellar piece of kit.
