Dakine Cyclone Roll Top pack

GearFlogger reviews the Cyclone Roll Top pack Get a GearFlogger anywhere near the water and you know something is going to get wet. Nothing ruins an outing faster, but there's a prophylactic – that's right, look it up – available: hook up with a dry bag.

Dakine makes it happen with the Cyclone Roll Top, a backpack style roll-top (duh) dry bag that can take a lot of gear: about 2,200ci or 36L. The shoulder straps go beyond the usual spaghetti straps. They're flat but wide and contoured, with a sternum strap, comfortable enough for a serious hump.

There's a small flat zippered pocket on the front, a grab handle on top and the whole bag is made of waterproof welded heavy-duty vinyl. Unlike most roll top designs where the buckles at the opening clip to each other to form a loop, the Cyclone buckles clip to fasteners that are attached lower down. It works well and allows you to compress the load from the top down, a handy bonus feature. If you need to go to the wet side, the Cyclone has you covered.
